Axle 3D Nvidia GeForce GTX460 768MB Graphics Card Review Print E-mail

The new Nvidia GF104 40nm chip is a far more streamlined version of the original Fermi chip that powers the GTX 480 for example. Nvidia has managed to produce more into less.  Axle3D is one of many taking advantage of this new GPU providing you with the base GTX460 768MB model.  The idea here is to make a high-performing card that costs far less to produce than a GTX480.

There are 2 main versions of the GTX460 graphics card, today we look at the Axle3D GTX460 768MB 192Bit edition which is not overclocked by default.  Take a look at this chart to give you an idea on how the graphics card compares to others in its class.

Conclusion

Getting the best value for the $$$ on an Nvidia card can be tricky but with the Axle3D GTX460 you can see how this base edition model with 768MB of GDDR5 does just fine.  Overclock it and your set for hard core gaming.  However we did notice that results on Crysis Warehead were a better than the ATI HD5770 and HD5830 but not that strong compared to ATI HD5850 which costs more.   For a base entry model of the GTX460 from Axle3D this card performed well, an overclocked version with higher clocks proves to be a good choice for PC Gamers on a budget for a mid-range card.  For more details visit www.axle3d.com
